Part 3
Victor
My keys. The asshole stole my keys.
He could go to Nick and his pack for all I cared. I was done with that mess. Back to the woods for me. I would build another cabin and wave both of my middle fingers at all the humans and werewolves of the world.
Before I even finished dressing, I started missing the idiot. He had stolen my heart somewhere along the way in addition to my keys.
I headed toward the bar to ask Alex to loan me a car, so I could try to save Andy's ass. I knew I would probably end up dead. Sometimes you have to make a stand for what you care for, and Andy was worth the risk. After all, without him, I had nothing to lose anyway.
Decisions seem so much more monumental in the morning before the sun has risen, I realized.
Standing outside in the dark, listening to the frigid wind blowing through the naked trees, I took the time to consider my other options.
I could chase after Andy to try to talk him out of his stupid mission. He probably would reject me, because he was not thinking clearly.
I could run back to my pack, try again to convince them to confront Nick's werewolf pack, and save Andrew. I could talk to all the bears this time instead of just Alex. They would probably reject me because I hadn't established myself as a proper Alpha, and if they did follow me, I would just be leading them into probable death.
Running away to the woods and telling them all to fuck off was the easy choice. I had spent most of my life running away from challenging people and situations. Running was almost comfortable for me at this point.
Headlights flashed over me, sending me jumping for the shadows. The car, just a night wander, not a member of Nick's pack, continued on its way.
Nick was my fucking problem, though. Running again would fix nothing with him.
Breaking up with Nick had not been difficult at all. Breaking free of him had proven much more difficult, because of the threats he could make to my family. Every day, I woke up wanting to be done with Nick.
The thought of heading north to the woods in Canada and attempting to hibernate for the winter, even though I knew I couldn't hibernate, pulled strongly at me. So strongly, in fact, that I realized I was facing north. All I needed to do was step forward to start the journey away from it all.
No matter what, I needed a car, since Andy had stolen mine. The jerk had stolen my car after I had saved his life. Technically, he had saved mine, too, so I guess we were mostly even.
The jerk.
Alex's bar was closed, but his motorcycle was still in the parking lot. Either he was doing paperwork, or he was sleeping off after drinking too much of his product. He would lend me what I needed if I pushed him hard enough, but he would make me feel like a piece of shit for needing his help again.
